Speaker: Zaylore Stout Esq., SPHR-SHRM-SCP; General Counsel at Potts and Associates, Principal at Zaylore Stout & Associates.
Topic: Management Refresher: Becoming a Manager/Leader, Delegating; Monitoring Staff, and Managing Time.
Topic Description: Being in a management position is distinguishable as the level of supervision between the rank- and-file employees and organizational senior leaders. Effective managers are critical to organizational success since they (ideally) ensure the efficiency of their employees which support the goals set out by of the organization’s leaders. Although there are different paths to becoming a manager regardless of how you get there a manager must have certain knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) in order to be achieve both organizational goals and engage their employees/staff. That roadmap to success will be outlined within this session. While managers do have some tasks that they “need to do” their primary job is to make sure that others are doing what they are assigned to accomplish in meeting both the mission and goals of the organization. Effective managers know what responsibilities are best suited for delegation thus allowing them more time to plan, collaborate with others within the organization, monitor the performance of their employees, and make sure they are providing them with adequate feedback and development opportunities. We’ll review each of these elements during this session. Manages in a small business have a lot on their plate. It’s easy to become overwhelmed, however, with the right tools and mindset you can continue moving forward. Professional success is largely a mental game. If you believe you are getting things done and doing good work, you probably are. We’ll recap how to ensure that your team is in the best possible position to effectively manage its time with an eye on efficiency.
